Hallmark fans, like me, enjoy sweet romance. This time, I also chose this book because of the blurb. Cuban food? Competition among chefs? South Beach living? Love all three! Glad to see Hallmark publishing stories that promote my ethnicity! Love, of course, drives the plot. But there is more than the usual boy-meet-girl, fight, and make-up we are fond of. This novel makes my Latin heart happy as it is packed with accurate cultural references, including delicious food (tostones and ropa vieja, anyone?). Even the way the mothers act is so consistent with how Latin mamás tend to be, LOL. I have not watched the movie, but I’m looking forward to checking it out… maybe over a slice of Tres Leches cake and a mug of café con leche. Mmm.
