Easter might already be on your calendar—along with plans for a family dinner and maybe some yummy chocolate. But have you thought about what it could mean for you this year…especially if you ever feel like you’re just not “good enough” for God?

We often think of Easter as a time of renewal—spring, fresh starts, new life. 🌷

But for a follower of Christ, Easter means even more. It’s the day we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ—what many believers call “Resurrection Sunday.”

Why is this day so important?

Scripture gives us the answer in 1 Corinthians 15:17:

“And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” (NIV)

Without the resurrection, Christianity is hopeless. But because of the resurrection, we know Jesus defeated sin and death. His sacrifice on the cross counted, and we rejoice in that!

It means salvation is real.

Paul sums up the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:3–4:

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,” (NIV).

👉🏼 Christ died for our sins.
👉🏼 He was buried.
👉🏼 He rose again.

Yet we, as humans, often try to complicate the gospel. We add pressure, rules, or our own attempts to “be good enough.”

The Bible is clear, though. We don’t earn salvation. We receive it—by grace, through faith in the risen Savior (Ephesians 2:8–9).

This Easter, let’s make the resurrection more than just a date on the calendar for us.

Let’s remember that God is a God of new beginnings. Just as Jesus rose from the grave, He offers us new life, renewed hope, and a restored relationship with Him.

If you need a fresh start, you don’t have to wait for your circumstances to change. You can come to Him today.

Lord, may this Easter be a new beginning with You. Amen. ✝️

And… talking about Easter, my work in progress centers on this wonderful celebration. Teresa, my heroine, goes back to the one place she ever felt loved, hoping to learn how to be a mom and somehow undo the mistakes of her past. My hero, Dalton, is trying to hold his family’s legacy together while wondering if he’s already blown his chance at lasting love. Both of them think the past is too big, too broken to redeem. Setting their story around Easter lets me echo the heartbeat of the resurrection: with God, even what feels dead and over can become the beginning of something new.
